Eating when you are not really hungry

You know perfectly well what you should be doing. And still you are standing at the cupboard at ten at night. That is not a character flaw, that is a pattern.

Sound familiar?

During the day it works, in the evening it does not

Willpower runs out by the end of the day. Anyone who has to watch themselves until eight has nothing left at ten. That is why we build systems and not good intentions.

After a hard day you have earned it

Eating as a reward is learned and can therefore be unlearned. Banning it does not do the job; putting something in its place that works just as well does.

And then comes the guilt

That is the most expensive part. Not the biscuits but the thought that you failed, because that turns one evening into a lost week.

What you have afterwardsAfter three months
  • You recognise the difference between real hunger and a hard moment, before you open the cupboard
  • A handful of things you do when the pressure is on, instead of only not eating
  • Evenings and weekends that no longer take down your whole week
  • Calm around food, so your energy goes to your life instead of to the fight with yourself

How we tackle it

We first look for when it happens and after what. There is almost always a pattern in it: an hour, a place, a type of day. Once you see that, it stops being a mystery and becomes a moment you can set something up for.

After that we work on the foundation: eating enough during the day, because a lunch that is too light leaves you defenceless in the evening. Sleep and stress hang straight off that, so we take those along. And we set out what you do when it happens anyway, so that one evening never costs you a week again.

★★★★★

“Het gekende sukkelstraatje van goede voornemens, beginnen met goede moed en na een tijdje opgeven. Nu: strakker, fitter, een sterker bovenlichaam, betere conditie en herwonnen plezier in sporten. Minder stress door cut-the-crap-relativering. Niet uitstellen, niet aanmodderen: begin er vandaag aan. De beste investering van de laatste 15 jaar voor een klein bedrag, met een grote persoonlijke ROI.”

Frequently asked questions

Is this therapy?
No. And I say that openly. I work with behaviour, structure and nutrition. If I suspect an eating disorder or something that sits deeper, I say so and I refer you on. That is part of coaching honestly.
Do I have to cut things out?
No. Ban lists make it worse, because whatever you forbid becomes more interesting. We work on why the moment arises, not on what is in the cupboard.
I am ashamed of this. Do I have to tell you everything?
Only what you want to share. I know it from the inside: I struggled with eating disorders myself before I stood here. There is nothing you could say that would leave me uncomfortable.

The perfect moment does not exist.

Whoever waits for ideal circumstances waits forever. In half an hour we map where you stand and what the logical first step is. You will walk away with something useful either way. If it is not a fit, I will tell you myself.
